Pure speculation as only BMW can answer this. Possibly the database behind that legacy site only has old VINs and any new VINs incorrectly get assigned the latest version it has. The means what you see here could be on the road in less than two years. It spits out old iDrive software and isn't compatible with iDrive 6. Just like the car itself, the infotainment is still in concept form, but BMW reps were not shy in giving plenty of hints that it’s very close to the real thing. New home screen shows functions on a single level and enables rapid access. Just like it did with the original center console knob, BMW is trying to pioneer a new direction for infotainment control with the Neue Klasse’s iDrive system. This is cheap and appropriate for my needs. And for buyers turned off by BMW's current design ethos, that’s probably a very good thing. I use idrive and bought into the 5TB first year deal for 17, 50/year after that. If the production car maintains the vibe of the Vision concept, the next generation of BMWs could look very different from the ones currently on the road.
